Formally known as the American Saddle Horse, the breed was developed by plantation owners in Kentucky, USA. Today they are most commonly seen undersaddle in Saddle Seat style riding and various types of driving events. Saddlebreds also compete regularly in dressage, jumping and western riding. They also make fine trail riding mounts due to their fine temperament and steady gait.

Colours: All colours are accepted. Roans however are rare. The most common colours are: bay, brown, black & chestnut.
